Brief Intro

I grew up in Bowie, Maryland…and I’ve lived in Maryland for most of my life. I spent 16 years as a high school teacher in both Maryland (3 years) and Orlando, Florida (13 years). I also spent 7 of those 16 years coaching high school lacrosse at the two schools I worked at. During the final 5-6 years of my teaching career (before I decided to transition to working with families and their dogs full time), I began developing a deep love and passion for dog training and behavioral modification as I navigated through my own journey of dog ownership. I was teaching full-time and working with dogs part-time in the evenings (dog walking, training neighbor’s dogs, and working at a board & train facility in Orlando) and I became very interested in switching to a full-time dog training career…but I wanted to learn more…study more…practice more…help more people, etc.

I’ve been very fortunate to have connected with a few mentors who have taught me so much over the last handful of years and who have genuinely believed in me and in my abilities to transition into training full time. They’ve challenged me and pushed me along the way and continue to do so! This has meant a whole lot to me…and I hope I can replicate that for other future dog trainers who want to pursue their passion. So…here we are now, in 2025…and I’ve been training dogs here in Maryland for close to 4 years since we moved up to Frederick from Orlando. CONFETTI DOGS STANDS TALL with a vision to walk alongside members of our community who genuinely love their dogs so much…but, perhaps, are struggling with certain behavioral challenges and/or reaching certain training goals, etc. Please consider reaching out if you need some support with your dog. I’d love to help you reach those goals!

Tiffy

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve cared deeply about dogs. My childhood dog “Tiffy” (a mixed breed) was truly my best friend growing up, we got her as an adult dog from a family member when I was about 5 years old and she passed away when I was 10. I honestly had no idea how to train dogs back then, but I sure knew that my dog enjoyed cheese and that she loved me! Other than that, she was quite the rollercoaster!!! Tiffy would go BERZERK when the mailman arrived, she would destroy furniture all throughout the house, scratch up the doors, get loose and run away (many, many times), etc. Near the end of her life, she even had a nasty mouth infection which came about from having a small piece of a chicken bone lodged and hidden deep in the back left side of her mouth (for weeks) after she had gotten into the trash! One of my favorite (but also slightly “questionable”) memories of Tiffy was when she jumped through the second story screened window of our house and landed in the bushes below…just to meet me at the bus stop up the street and walk home with me! I mean…she truly was wild and potentially very dangerous to herself and others! It was crazy! But…most importantly, she was also possibly my favorite thing in the world at that time and my fond memories of her live on to this day! You know, we only had Tiffy for about 5 years before she passed away, but in those 5 years she made such an impression on me…so much that I’ve loved these amazing animals ever since and have dedicated my life to helping people enjoy the time with their dogs. I still remember her yellow “blanket” and her red collar. So grateful for the time with her!

The Family

Fast forward to 2025. I have been married to my amazing partner in life, April, for 18 years. We have 4 incredible kids (ages 10-17). They are all part of why I do what I do and they mean so much to me…more than they could ever know (I’m secretly hoping they will read this page)! It means so much to me that they have been supportive of me over the last 3-4 of years as I’ve been working hard to grow this local business and as I’ve been building it up from the ground! In June of 2024, we sadly, had to say goodbye to our almost 13 year old German Shepherd,  Fonso “the legend.” I’ll share more about him on this website soon. He is with me in my heart every day as I work to help other dogs. He is what got me into training in the first place. We currently spend our days with our German Shepherd, “Nova” (6 yr), our new Blue Heeler named “Rip” (2 yr) …the absolute toughest dog in our house, a cute and spitfire little 12 pound Chihuahua mix called “Ruby” (3 yr), and our fun special guy whom we’ve had for about a year and a half, a Shih-Tzu / Maltese named “Mickey” who we like to call, “Mick Jabber” (7yr). Our 4 wonderful dogs have reminded me of my childhood love for and curiosity about the species. I’m incredibly grateful for the way they love our family, how they keep us active and healthy, the way they come and lay at our feet when we are going through hard times, how ridiculously funny & quirky they can be, etc. Dogs understand so much more than we give them credit for and I really want to honor that with my choices as a dog owner/pet parent, a dog trainer, and a member of our local community!
